Update on West L.A.-Sawtelle Area Outages |
LOS ANGELES — Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) electrical crews are working to restore power to customers in the Sawtelle/Westwood areas of West Los Angeles. At the peak today, about 6,320 customers were experiencing outages while LADWP crews worked to make permanent repairs to equipment at the local substation, which lost power due to extreme heat conditions on Friday evening. While power was restored for most customers at 1:48 p.m. today, the electrical equipment in the station was still overheating, and additional repairs were needed. We anticipate continued intermittent outages while these repairs are underway. This is necessary to protect the existing equipment from being overloaded and failing, which could trigger larger and longer lasting outages.
We know how difficult it is for our customers to be without power during such extreme heat, but please be assured that our crews are working as quickly and safely as possible in difficult conditions to restore power to this community. |
