When complete, the citywide CFL distribution program will have delivered 2.4 million bulbs – two bulbs to each of the Department’s 1.2 million residential customers.
Each customer is estimated to save $100 in energy costs over the lifespan of the bulbs. The energy saved through this program, in power that won’t be produced and fuel that won’t be burned, amounts to a savings of $61.3 million for the Department and our ratepayers. To learn more about CFLs, including special disposal methods recommended for spent bulbs, please call the CFL distribution program telephone line, (213) 367-4614.
The CFL distribution effort is one of many LADWP Green LA Environmental Programs. Other energy saving and efficiency efforts include the Consumer Rebate Program, the Refrigerator Exchange and Retire Programs, Low Income Refrigerator Exchange Program, Trees for a Green LA and the Small Business Direct Install Program. Information on these energy saving programs, and CFLs, is available at www.ladwp.com or by calling 1-800-Green LA.
