LADWP Crews Wrap Up Restoration of Power to Remaining Affected Customers Following Record-Setting Rain Storm |
LOS ANGELES — Los Angeles Department of Water and Power crews continued working around the clock today restoring power to a small number of remaining customers affected by Sunday’s rain and wind storm. Full restoration is expected for the remaining 200 customers later today.
On Sunday, as fierce wind and record-setting rain began to fall in the Southland, LADWP began power restoration efforts. In most cases, outages lasted mere minutes to a few hours. Crews worked around the clock, and often in hazardous conditions to restore power to approximately 72,000 customers, about 5% of LADWP’s 1.4 million electric service customers, who experienced an interruption in their power service. At the height of restoration efforts, over 100 crews were working across the City to restore power service to customers, responding to and resolving over 200 separate incidents ranging from single customer outages to full circuit outages affecting over 1,000 customers at a time. |
