LADWP Chief Operating Officer Raman Raj Elected

LOS ANGELES – Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) Chief Operating Officer Raman Raj has been elected to serve in leadership positions at two U.S. power associations for the 2009-2010 fiscal year. Mr. Raj will serve as Vice Chair at Large of the Executive Committee for the Western Energy Institute (WEI,) a regional agency, and as a Member of the CEO Steering Committee for the Large Public Power Council (LPPC,) a national organization.
“I embrace the opportunity to serve these honorable organizations and work together with my peers on the pressing issues we face at this historic time in our industry,” said Mr. Raj. “Through my participation with each of these associations, I will respond to emerging regional and national power issues for the benefit of LADWP and those we serve, our customers.” Through his participation in these organizations, Mr. Raj brings more than 25 years of experience in the power utility industry to service issues that directly relate to LADWP, including Smart Grid, Renewable Portfolio Standard, and Advanced Metering Infrastructure, among others. Prior to serving as Vice Chair at Large of the Executive Committee for the WEI, Mr. Raj served as Board Member since April 2007. His term as Vice Chair at Large began on October 1, 2009 and will continue through September 2010. Raj’s membership in the LPPC’s CEO Steering Committee, which is his first term, began on January 11, 2010 and will continue for three years.
