LOS ANGELES (June 6, 2024) –The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) joins its employees and all Angelenos to celebrate Pride Month 2024. June 5th marked a historic day for LADWP, as the Progress Flag was raised in front of its headquarters, the John Ferraro Building, in Downtown Los Angeles for the first time.
At LADWP, diversity, equity and inclusion are core values. Celebrating Pride Month demonstrates the Department’s enduring commitment to fostering an inclusive environment where everyone feels safe, respected and enjoys a strong sense of acceptance and belonging.
“LADWP embraces and stands in support of inclusivity and diversity,” said Board President Richard Katz. “Together, we celebrate this Pride Month.”
“LADWP is proud to join the Los Angeles community and others across the world to celebrate Pride Month. Establishing a workforce and community where all can feel supported and accepted is vital. We stand with the LGBTQIA+ community and recognize and celebrate the contributions they make to our workforce and community at large,” said Janisse Quiñones, LADWP Chief Executive Officer and Chief Engineer.
LADWP’s PRIDE Employee Resource Group, established in 2023, has spearheaded initiatives in support of the LGBTQIA+ community in the Department and continues to champion inclusivity in the workforce. PRIDE members, along with fellow LADWP staff and allies, will march in the 2024 L.A. Pride Parade on June 9 and represent the Department for the third year in a row.
The Department remains committed to supporting the LGBTQIA+ community and invites all Los Angeles community members to join in making Pride Month one of inclusion and empowerment for all.
