Family Fun Mini Fair
Visitors Can Visit the New Mini Fair on December 5-7
Los Angeles-The spirit of the holiday season is glowing in Griffith Park with the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) Holiday Light Festival. The festival will be culminating its “Vehicle Free Nights” with a special Family Fun Mini Fair on Friday, December 5 through Sunday December 7, 2008.
The new Family Fun Mini Fair, will feature booths and displays from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. showcasing the family of City agencies and services, such as Recreation and Parks, the Los Angeles Libraries, Los Angeles World Airports, the Los Angeles Department of Aging, the Los Angeles Bureau of Public Works, as well as other partners, such as the Autry National Center, KOST 103.5 FM, Radio Disney, KLVE, the Daily News, the Music Center, Outback, the Automobile Club of Southern California, “Green Family and Home” and more.
To help celebrate the season and the new Family Fun Mini Fair, the LADWP will be hosting 150 children from the LA’s BEST after school program on Friday, December 5th. The children will enjoy a healthy meal and will be able to visit the booths and displays, while walking the festival route.
On December 8, the festival returns to its regular schedule of vehicles and walking. Free shuttles will also be available and will run each evening from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on December 12 through December 30. Shuttles depart and return from the parking lot of the L.A. Zoo. Guests may also walk the one-mile each way route. Signing will indicate the shuttle stop location. All visitors are encouraged to dress warmly and wear comfortable shoes.
The LADWP Holiday Light Festival is a collaboration of many agencies and partners, such as the L.A. Zoo, Recreation and Parks, Department of Transportation, CalTrans, Los Angeles Fire Department, Southern California Automobile Club, Outback, KOST 103.5 FM, Starbucks, Channel 35, L.A. Inc., Autry National Center, KABC Channel 7 and the Spark of Love Toy Drive.
As part of the festival’s tradition, the Los Angeles City Fire Department is hosting it annual Spark of Love toy drive to benefit less fortunate children throughout Los Angeles. Visitors to the festival are encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped gift and brighten the holiday season for a child.
