Pacific Palisades Fires: Correcting Misinformation about LADWP’s Water System

WINTER STORM OUTAGE UPDATE FOR SAT. JAN. 5, 2008-7:00 P.M.

January 5, 2008

WINTER STORM OUTAGE UPDATE FOR SAT.  JAN. 5, 2008-7:00 P.M.

Los Angeles Department of Water (LADWP) crews are continuing to work around the clock to restore power to customers who have had their power interrupted. The crews have restored power to over 35,419 customers who experienced a disruption in power in the City since storm conditions began yesterday afternoon. Most customers have experienced only brief interruptions in power of a few hours or less, though some have been without power longer. The majority of outages caused by this storm have affected customers in the “Metro” area, south of Mulholland Drive. Only about 1/4 of the total outages have occurred in the San Fernando Valley.

The Department has 58 crews comprised of hundreds of field personnel working throughout the day and into the evening and night to restore power to those that are still experiencing electric service disruption. Currently approximately 6,473 customers are being affected by power outages out of the utility’s 1.4 million electric customers.

There are circuit outages affecting the following areas and customers at 7PM today:

Westwood                1,091
North Hollywood          782
Wilmington              1,552

There are partial outages affecting the following areas:

Montecito Heights       947
Westwood                 196
North Hollywood      1,342
Westchester           1,031
Koreatown                 143
Brentwood                 295

In addition, there are 4 scattered outages affecting smaller groups of customers in various neighborhoods throughout the City..

The outages are due predominately to wires down due to storm conditions that began affecting the City Friday afternoon at approximately 3pm.

If you are experiencing power disruption or see downed power lines, please call 1-800-DIAL-DWP for more information.
