Drinking Water Declared Safe to Drink in the Granada Hills & Porter Ranch Area, Boil Water Notice Lifted – August 12, 2025 Final Update

Water Sampling and Testing in Progress, Boil Water Notice Remains in Place for Granada Hills & Porter Ranch Customers – August 11, 2025 PM Update

August 11, 2025

Incident Update #14

August 11, 2025 – PM Update

Latest Updates

  • Water quality testing of samples collected in progress
  • Boil Water Notice remains in place
  • Mobile laundry, shower, restrooms permanently closing tonight at 10 PM
  • Water bottles and recycled water for irrigation to continue until Boil Water Notice lifted

Members of LADWP’s Water Quality Division have collected water samples for testing from the three pressure zones that span the affected areas of Granada Hills and Porter Ranch that remain under a Boil Water Notice since Wednesday, August 6. LADWP’s water lab is testing the samples and awaiting water quality results to submit to the State Division of Drinking Water (CA-DDW). Once the regulators give LADWP the all-clear, we will notify affected customers that the Boil Water Notice is lifted.

Affected customers in Granada Hills and Porter Ranch received news early this morning that LADWP restored full water service to the affected area and that they can once again use their tap water, as long as they boil the water before consuming it.

Out of an abundance of caution, consumers are urged to follow these important health and safety instructions while LADWP staff conduct tests to confirm water quality.

ONLY USE BOILED TAP WATER OR BOTTLED WATER FOR DRINKING AND COOKING PURPOSES until further notice.

If using tap water, bring it to a boil, let it continue to boil for one (1) minute, and let it cool before use. This also applies to water that is used for brushing teeth, making ice cubes, and food preparation such as washing produce.

Affected customers can use tap water in their area without having to boil it first for non-potable uses including for showering, toilet flushing, and landscaping. These recommendations remain in place until the CA-DDW gives the all-clear for LADWP to cancel the Boil Water Notice.

Prior to Monday morning, customers in the Granada Hills and Porter Ranch area were left without water for multiple days as a result of a broken valve that required complex repairs. Water restoration was possible after LADWP crews dug and cut out the broken valve and welded in a new section of pipe that allowed for normal water flow to the 10-million-gallon tank serving the area.

To assist affected communities, LADWP has deployed a range of support services, including bottled water distribution, recycled water for outdoor use and toilet flushing, and access to mobile showers and laundry facilities.

SUPPORT FOR CUSTOMERS
Now that tap water service has been restored, LADWP will permanently close its mobile showers and laundry facilities at 10 pm Monday, August 11.
