Valley Village Power Outage |
At approximately 8:45 this morning, a power outage occurred in portions of Valley Village, Valley Glen and Studio City. The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) currently has crews working on site to restore power quickly and safely to impacted customers.
The outage stemmed from a problem experienced at a Distributing Station affecting approximately 15,000 customers. The cause of the outage remains under investigation.
These types of outages are typically restored quickly by crews performing switching at the affected Distributing Station (DS), essentially switching circuits from one bank delivering power to another that is not damaged. In this case, energy controllers and crews have attempted to switch power at the station to another bank, but this has not resolved the problem and the entire DS remains without power. Crews are moving a large remote electric transformer called a “hog wagon” into the area to use, if needed, to help restore power. At this time, they continue to work on the equipment in the station and in the surrounding area to restore power as quickly as possible.
