Pacific Palisades Fires: Correcting Misinformation about LADWP’s Water System

Temporary Road Access Closure to Sage Grouse Breeding Grounds, Long Valley, California

February 21, 2020

Closure to be in place March 1-April 21, 2020

Starting on Sunday, March 1, LADWP will be implementing a temporary road access closure at North Landing Rd (north of Crowley Lake Reservoir) to limit vehicular access to Greater Sage-Grouse breeding grounds from March 1- April 21, 2020. Vehicular traffic from the public will be prohibited during this time to limit potential disturbance during the prime breeding season for this sensitive species. The closure will be lifted Tuesday, April 21, 2020 prior to Fishing Opener.

As stewards of the almost 315,000 acres of land, the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) is committed to continue implementing conservation actions in support of maintaining and improving habitat and success of the Greater Sage-Grouse. Our goal is to employ best management practices for land and water uses while protecting water quality, habitat, and biodiversity.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation and understanding as we work together to ensure protection for the Greater Sage-Grouse.
