Pacific Palisades Fires: Correcting Misinformation about LADWP’s Water System

Statement Regarding Despicable and False Online Comments

September 20, 2011

Statement Regarding Despicable and False Online Comments

The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power was recently alerted to hate-filled comments posted online by and individual named Michael Walter under various news stories published on multiple online news sites, including the Los Angeles Times and the Los Angeles Daily News.  Most recently, Walter, who identifies himself as a “Sr. Purchasing Clerk” at the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power posted a vile comment under an article entitled “Georgia parole board denies clemency for Troy Davis” published on LATimes.com.

Please be assured that there is no employee, or retiree, of the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power by the name of Michael Walter.  We also do not employ anyone with the title “Sr. Accounting Clerk”.  This individual has been falsely representing himself and posting hate-filled, vile comments on multiple news websites.  We have called on him to cease and desist from doing so.

In addition, we contacted the Los Angeles Times and alerted them to the false nature of this post and they have removed it from their website.  We thank the Times for their cooperation.

We reject this individual’s comments in their entirety and find them despicable.  We have begun an investigation into this matter and will pursue all of our remedies at law.

If anyone sees additional comments posted on any site from this individual, we encourage you to contact us at 213-367-1361.
