LOS ANGELES (July 7, 2017) – As LADWP electrical crews restored power to business and residential customers affected by a failed circuit in the Fairfax Village area of the city, a different circuit in the same vault, serving the same community, failed shortly before 1:00 p.m. Friday. The force of that incident caused windows to shatter in front of a business located near W. Beverly Boulevard and N. Alfred Street. Three individuals, who are not LADWP employees, reported minor injuries. They were assessed on-scene and were not transported to a hospital for care.
Westbound lanes are closed on W. Beverly Boulevard from N. Orlando Avenue to N. Croft Avenue.
LADWP crews are now assessing the damaged equipment before proceeding with the work of restoring power to those impacted by this new outage. The 3,500 customers without power from the initial outage remain without power. The latest failed circuit has also resulted in additional customers experiencing an outage. We will provide the total number of customers in the Fairfax Village area once we have that information.
LADWP has deployed additional personnel to the scene and will be monitoring this developing situation closely, providing updates as they become available.
