WHAT:
LADWP’s Regional Science Bowl showcases the region’s brightest high school students, putting their science knowledge and teamwork skills to the test. The competition follows a high-energy game show format with moderators asking tough questions and challenging two to four-member teams to beat the clock and each other while responding to complex college-level questions in math, science, and technology.
Toss-up questions carry a value of five points, and team members buzzing in swiftly with correct answers not only secure five points for their team but also earn the privilege to respond to a bonus question, doubling the stakes at 10 points. The team with the most points wins the match.
The winning team at the Regional Competition will represent the city and region at the U.S. Department of Energy Office of Science National Science Bowl in Washington, D.C., which takes place April 25 -29, 2024. The winner of the National Science Bowl becomes the national champion.
