Media Advisory: LADWP and Community Partners to Celebrate Summer Solstice at Chatsworth Nature Preserve

LOS ANGELES (June 20, 2025) – Building on the tradition of its annual Winter Solstice event, Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) is co-hosting a Summer Solstice celebration at the Chatsworth Nature Preserve in partnership with the Santa Susana Mountain Park Association, Sky Valley Volunteers, and the Herp Connection. 

This family-friendly event at the City of Los Angeles’ only nature preserve will include a Traditional Native American Blessing, guided nature hikes, live animal exhibits, storytelling, music, food trucks and a community resource fair.  

LADWP will also host booths highlighting career opportunities, electric safety, and water conservation tips—plus free giveaways for attendees.

Saturday, June 21, 2025
9:00 AM to 1:00 PM 

WHERE: 

Chatsworth Nature Preserve entrance at Valley Circle Boulevard (from Plummer Street and Topanga Canyon Boulevard, entrance is approximately 1 mile west of Topanga Canyon Blvd), Chatsworth, CA 91311

VISUALS: 

Attendees will have the opportunity to take part in guided nature walks, exploring the rich landscape of the Chatsworth Nature Preserve—home to century-old oak trees, a community garden, a seasonal vernal pool, and variety of native and migratory bird species. The event will open with a Traditional Native American Blessing and feature live animal exhibits, music, and storytelling, creating a meaningful experience for everyone.  

NOTES:  

Bring hats, refillable water bottles, sunscreen and comfortable walking closed toe shoes. No animals, drones, smoking, bikes, or scooters.
