BACKGROUND:
Members of the media are invited to setup outside of the church on the day of the funeral service for Mike Lemestre, an LADWP electric service worker and civil servant, who died in the line of duty.

Mike’s passing was deeply felt by Department which understands and appreciates the hazards involved in the work its crews perform every day. LADWP has also received an outpouring of support from members of the public who recognize the critical and essential public service Mike, and other electrical service workers, perform day in, day out, to keep the lights on for Los Angeles.

To honor Mike’s memory, LADWP hosted a Department-wide “stand down” on November 18 and the Mayor directed that U.S. flags in city facilities be lowered to half-mast in Mike’s memory the week following his passing.

As the Department continues to remember Mike and his sacrifice, members of LADWP, including Mike’s colleagues, will be attending his funeral to demonstrate their support for Mike’s wife Michelle and their son Joshua during the celebration of life and funeral service.

Mike was a 16-year veteran of the Department who joined LADWP on September 6, 2005 as an Electrical Craft Helper for the Power Transmission & Distribution Division. He then worked as an Electric Distribution Mechanic Trainee and Electric Distribution Mechanic .Mike had been recently promoted to Senior Cable Splicer on June 7, 2021.
