Pacific Palisades Fires: Correcting Misinformation about LADWP’s Water System

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, Councilmember Heather Hutt, LADWP and LASAN join California state officials and community partners to announce the distribution of $880+ million in water and wastewater utility assistance funds to California utility customers including LADWP and LASAN customers who fell behind on their bills as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

BACKGROUND: 

With funding from the 2021 Federal American Rescue Plan Act package, the State Water Resources Control Board, through its Water and Wastewater Arrearages Payment Program, has disbursed over $880 million to California utilities to clear water and wastewater debt of customers who experienced economic hardships during the COVID-19 pandemic. The City of Los Angeles received nearly 30% of these funds to help LADWP and LASAN to clear about $253 million in water and wastewater bills of more than 204,000 customers to date.
