Los Angeles, CA – July 8, 2025 – As temperatures rise across the region, the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) has ramped up efforts to help customers beat the heat and stay cool with its popular Cool LA initiative, offering rebates of up to $275 on air conditioners for income-qualified customers.
This year’s increased rebates will continue to help LADWP customers purchase energy-efficient window, wall, and portable air conditioners (ACs) to help lower indoor temperatures to a safer level during extreme heat conditions. Income-qualified customers can purchase up to two air conditioner units per LADWP customer account through the Cool LA Marketplace instant online rebates at cool-ladwp.enervee.com.
“Keeping Angelenos, especially our most vulnerable residents, safe and cool during the hot summer months is critical,” said Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass. “With energy-efficient products, LADWP’s Cool LA Initiative is helping Angelenos better manage the impacts of extreme heat to ensure everyone stays healthy this summer.”
“Cool LA continues our commitment to serving all of our customers, especially the most vulnerable and those living in underserved communities impacted the most by climate change,” said Janisse Quiñones, LADWP Chief Executive Officer and Chief Engineer.
LADWP income-qualified customers are eligible to receive a Cool LA rebate of up to $275 for Energy Star®-rated Window and Through-the-Wall Air Conditioning Units, depending on the efficiency level, and up to $225 for Title 20–compliant Portable Air Conditioning Units.
Throughout the summer season and based on manufacturer availability, some air conditioners can be as low as $0*. We urge customers to check the Cool LA Marketplace frequently for updates on $0* product availability.
To qualify for the Cool LA rebate, LADWP customers must have an active electric account and be a current participant in one of the following discount programs at time of purchase: EZ-Save Program, Senior Citizen/Disability Lifeline Rate Program, Life-Support Equipment Discount Program, and/or Physician Certified Allowance Discount.
Under the Cool LA initiative, LADWP also has the Efficient Product Marketplace providing rebates for other energy-efficient products available to all LADWP residential customers with an active electric account.
Customers who are not eligible for the Cool LA up to $275 air conditioner rebate, can still take advantage of rebates up to $125 on Energy Star®-rated Window and Through-the-Wall Air Conditioning Units, depending on the efficiency level, and a $100 Smart Thermostat rebate, by visiting the Efficient Product Marketplace at marketplace.ladwp.com.
“LADWP’s Efficient Product Marketplace rebates can help our customers conserve electricity and save money on their utility bill while helping out the environment,” said Quiñones.
With climate change intensifying summer heatwaves, LADWP encourages residents to take advantage of these cooling rebates to help turn down the heat and turn up the savings!
