LOS ANGELES (May 9, 2018) – A 60-minute T.V. program, covering the final two rounds of the LADWP 25th Anniversary Regional Science Bowl Competition, is airing twice on KLCS Ch. 58 and nine times on LA CityView Ch. 35 through May. The program depicts the final round of competition between the North Hollywood A Team and the Los Angeles Center for Enriched Studies (LACES) Team to determine the regional champion as well as the semi-final match between North Hollywood’s B Team and LACES.

Spoiler alert: the program ends with the regional championship team, North Hollywood High School, winning second place at the National Science Bowl held April 26-30 in Washington, DC.

Within the hour-long program is an 18-minute documentary that focuses on the hard work and strategies required to become successful at this competition, part of the U.S. Department of Energy Office of Science National Science Bowl program. It features student team members and their coaches as they go through the rigors and joys of training to compete at the LADWP Regional Science Bowl competition. It also shines the spotlight on alumni, parents and volunteers who help make the competition successful.

The stand-alone 18-minute-long documentary will air three more times from May 16 to May 24 on Ch. 35.

In addition, student-produced Science Bowl videos from North Hollywood High School and Granada Hills Charter High School will air four times each between May 14-23 on Ch. 35. In each showing, the Granada Hills video will air first followed by the North Hollywood production.

The two versions of the LADWP Science Bowl video (60-minute and 18-minute programs) and the two student videos will also be available online at www.YouTube.com/LADWP1 and on www.vimeo.com/ladwp beginning May 11.
