LOS ANGELES (April 12, 2023) – A 30-minute-long documentary television program highlighting the 31st Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) Science Bowl high school competition and LADWP’s future career opportunities will air twice on KLCS/PBS and 14 times on LA CityView Ch. 35 between April 17 to May 27.

The program is also available online on YouTube with the following link: https://youtu.be/3OpHNQzKK3w, on Vimeo at this link https://vimeo.com/808877462  and on www.klcs.org/klcs-live-stream and www.lacityview.org/live

The program interviews students, coaches, alumni, and volunteers. The program’s highlight is the complete final round of competition between North Hollywood High School Team A and its Team B. The regional champion was determined in the final moments as time expired.

Teams that didn’t advance to the afternoon rounds still received their moment in the spotlight during the Science Bowl hands-on competition in which they assembled grabber devices, picked up objects and ran to drop them in one of two containers. Teams that dropped items in the farther container received more points.

The regional championship team won an all-expense paid trip to represent Los Angeles at the National Science Bowl to be held on April 27 to May 1 in Washington, D.C. This trip is funded by the U.S. Department of Energy Office of Science.

LADWP regional championship teams have a strong record at the National Science
Bowl having won five national titles and 15 trophies from first to fifth place since the program began for Los Angeles schools in 1993.
