LOS ANGELES (July 7, 2017) – Multiple LADWP crews continue their work to restore power to portions of the Fairfax District following an outage that occurred this afternoon in an electrical vault.
This afternoon’s outage knocked out power to some customers who were affected by an outage that occurred Thursday afternoon that was repaired at approximately Noon today. The second outage occurred on a circuit in the same vault as the Thursday, which appears to have sustained damage during the earlier outage.
An estimated 1,000 customers are currently without power.
LADWP has deployed additional personnel to the scene. Although crews are working as safely and as quickly as possible, the estimated time of restoration now is early Saturday morning.
The force of the second incident on Friday caused windows to shatter in front of a business located near W. Beverly Boulevard and N. Alfred Street. Three individuals reported minor injuries. They were assessed on the scene and were not taken to a hospital for care.
The outage has affected businesses and residences in the area, including Cedar Sinai Hospital, the Beverly Connection and others.
LADWP thanks customers for their patience as we work to restore power as quickly and safely as possible. LADWP will provide updates as soon as they are available.
