Granada Hills/Porter Ranch Water Incident Update #6 August 7, 2025 – PM Update

A Boil Water Notice Has Been Issued for Portions of the Porter Ranch and Granada Hills areas. Click for More Details.

Granada Hills/Porter Ranch Water Incident August 5, 2025 – 11PM Update

August 5, 2025

Customers in Granada Hills & Porter Ranch are Urged to Conserve as Much Water as Possible while LADWP Repairs Large Water Supply Valve Serving Area

Due to the need for an emergency repair at a local LADWP water pump station, LADWP is calling on customers in the Granada Hills and Porter Ranch neighborhoods to immediately conserve water.

LADWP expects that water service may be disrupted in portions of Porter Ranch and Granada Hills for approximately 9,200 customers beginning early Wednesday, August 6 when morning water use peaks. The area affected by this urgent alert is bounded by Rinaldi Avenue to the South, Balboa Blvd to the east, De Soto Ave to the west and the foothills & hills to the north.

On Tuesday afternoon, August 5th, while water system crews were making repairs at a pump station that connects to a 10-million gallon water tank that serves the area, a valve that controls the flow of water failed to open. As a result, the water flowing into the pipes serving the area was cut off.

Crews are on site and are working as quickly and safely as possible to perform complex repairs. To help restore and maintain water pressure and supply, LADWP has requested support from a provider of high-capacity pumps and hoses to resupply water in the 54-inch trunkline feeding the water tank. Meanwhile, crews began excavation to access and repair the valve located 20 feet underground. LADWP expects this excavation to take 14-16 hours before actual repairs can begin.  The current estimated time to complete repairs is Friday morning, August 8th.

The safety of our customers and the community is our top priority as we work quickly to make repairs and resupply water. LADWP is coordinating with the LA Fire Department to develop a water supply contingency plan for the area, including providing water tankers while this work is in progress, and is also coordinating with LAPD.

While work is in progress, customers may lose water pressure and eventually use all the water in the tank serving the area. We urge customers in the area to conserve as much as possible by turning off sprinklers, washing machines and dishwashers for the next 24 hours.

LADWP is also setting up water distribution locations in the following locations area to provide drinking water to customers. Hours of operation to be provided Wednesday morning.

  • Holleigh Bernson Memorial Park, 20500 Sesnon Blvd, Northridge, CA 91326
  • O’Melveny Park, 17300 Sesnon Blvd., Granada Hills, CA 91344
  • Intersection of Tampa Ave. And Sesnon Blvd. on the border of Northridge and Porter Ranch

We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work to make these repairs as quickly and safely as possible. For additional information, please visit www.ladwpnews.com.
