Virtual Meetings Scheduled for Wednesday, May 28 and Saturday, June 7
LOS ANGELES (May 21, 2025)—The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) and Los Angeles Sanitation and Environment (LASAN) invite community members to participate in upcoming virtual community meetings on May 28 and June 7 to provide input on Pure Water Los Angeles, a water supply and resiliency program being collaboratively developed by LADWP and LASAN to design, build, and operate an exceptionally advanced water purification system. It aims to produce up to 230 million gallons of purified recycled water per day.
About 50 percent of Los Angeles’ water comes from our own sources—including groundwater, recycled water, and water delivered by the Los Angeles Aqueduct—with the remaining water purchased and imported from other agencies. Pure Water Los Angeles will create a new, sustainable, and more resilient supply of drinking water by purifying recycled water, supporting the transition to a 70 percent local water supply.
In 2024, LADWP and LASAN jointly launched Pure Water Los Angeles to integrate their planning and studies and partner on program implementation. Planning and implementation will include feedback from community members and other local stakeholders.
Through the upcoming community meetings, the public will have the opportunity to learn more about Pure Water Los Angeles, participate in group discussions about the program, and provide feedback on program planning.
Both upcoming virtual community meetings will cover the same Pure Water Los Angeles information. The meetings are scheduled as follows:
- Wednesday, May 28, 2025 | 7:00-8:30 p.m. | Register
- Saturday, June 7, 2025 | 10:00-11:30 a.m. | Register
