November 6, 2013

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
NOVEMBER 6, 2013

The Historic Cascades Open to the Public for L.A. Aqueduct’s 100th Anniversary

WHAT: The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) is opening The Cascades in Sylmar to the public in celebration of the Los Angeles Aqueduct’s Centennial. This rare opportunity will allow members of the public to see up close the important piece of water infrastructure that marks the southern terminus of the Los Angeles Aqueduct.
WHEN: November 6 to 8, 2013, 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

November 9, 2013, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

WHERE: The Los Angeles Aqueduct Cascades, 17001 Foothill Boulevard, Sylmar, CA 91342
MORE: On November 5, 2013, LADWP hosted a reenactment of the significant moment in Los Angeles history when water first arrived in Los Angeles 100 years ago via the newly-completed Los Angeles Aqueduct. As it did 100 years ago, Los Angeles Aqueduct continues to deliver water to Los Angeles from the Eastern Sierra, and remains to be one of the most important engineering marvels of the early 20th century.
