Pacific Palisades Fires: Correcting Misinformation about LADWP’s Water System

Statement by LADWP General Manager Austin Beutner Regarding the Resignation of Board of Water and Power Commission President Lee Kanon Alpert

December 7, 2010

Statement by LADWP General Manager Austin Beutner
Regarding the Resignation of
Board of Water and Power Commission President
Lee Kanon Alpert

LOS ANGELES — “Lee Alpert has served with a steady hand on the Board of Water and Power Commissioners for the past three years.  First as a member of the Board, and for the last two years as Board President.

Lee served not only as the voice of the San Fernando Valley, but of all Los Angeles.  He gave voice to the concerns and issues affecting all of our customers.  His oversight as Commission President and Chair of the Customer and Community Relations Committee of the Board spurred customer service improvements, while his focus on openness and accessibility to all residents on major Department issues led to improvements in outreach, awareness and customer service that continue today.  As Board President and Chair of the Homeland Security Committee, he also set in motion and oversaw a transformation in security at the DWP that will better protect our customers, employees and critical assets for decades to come.

Lee challenged us all to do more with less, and to do it better, always putting the customer first.

We wish him the best in his future endeavors and owe a debt of gratitude for the many hours he dedicated to the men and women of the Department of Water and Power.”
