Pacific Palisades Fires: Correcting Misinformation about LADWP’s Water System

MEDIA ADVISORY: LADWP Hosts 2nd Annual Women’s Career & Wellness Expo Highlighting Opportunities to Work and Grow with the Nation’s Largest Municipal Utility

WHAT:

The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) welcomes job seekers, students, and members of communities across the L.A. area to the Women’s Career & Wellness Expo.

This interactive career fair spotlights both trade and professional jobs at LADWP, in fields like electrical, engineering, emergency management, and financial services. Attendees will have the chance to network; speak with women who already work for LADWP about their roles; and learn about the many benefits of working with LADWP. Nearly 2,000 community members and students have RSVPed to attend this event.

All are welcome at this family-friendly event, which features DJs, tree giveaways, and kids’ activities such as facepainting and a rock-climbing wall. The event is co-sponsored by IBEW Local 18.

BACKGROUND:

LADWP is committed to building an equitable and diverse workforce, and to fostering a workplace that narrows gender and racial pay gaps. Events like the Women’s Career & Wellness Expo promote pathways to high-quality jobs; lay out the benefits of civil service and union representation; and connect women to careers in fields where they are underrepresented, such as utility trades and STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math).

About 25% of LADWP’s 12,000 employees are women.
