Pacific Palisades Fires: Correcting Misinformation about LADWP’s Water System

LADWP Science Bowl at the Center of Half-Hour Show and Two Student Videos

May 10, 2019

LOS ANGELES (May 10, 2019) – A 30-minute documentary on the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power’s (LADWP) Education Program, concluding with the final round of this year’s Regional Science Bowl Competition, is airing  in May on LA CityView Channel. 35, the city’s cable access station.

The program highlights the importance of LADWP’s education program and several of the activities that LADWP sponsors such as: Los Angeles Times’ Times in Education Program; theater presentations in schools; the Adopt-A-School Program; student tours to LADWP’s historic, century-old Power Plant 1; and the Department’s intensive Environmental Teacher Institute.

The half-hour program concludes with the Department’s flagship program, the LADWP Science Bowl. Viewers will get to witness the final round of competition between the North Hollywood “A” Team and the Bravo Medical Magnet High School to determine the regional champion.

Spoiler alert: The program ends with North Hollywood High School winning the regional championship. North Hollywood also went on to capture third at the National Science Bowl held April 25-29 in Washington, DC. Last year, North Hollywood placed second.

In addition to the documentary, two student-produced Science Bowl videos from North Hollywood High School and Reseda Charter High School will also air in May on LA CityView Channel 35.

All three programs can also be accessed online at www.YouTube.com/LADWP1 and www.vimeo.com/ladwp.
