Public Meetings Scheduled to Share Plan and Gather Input; Public Comment Period Open from February 12 to March 16, 2026
LOS ANGELES (February 12, 2026)- The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) 2025 Urban Water Management Plan (UWMP) draft is now available for public review, marking the start of the public comment period. Published every five years, the UMWP details the City’s long-term plans for ensuring a dependable water supply and effective resource strategies. Recognizing the vital role of community involvement in shaping a reliable water future, LADWP is also seeking public input and engagement on the 2025 Draft UWMP through a series of public meetings.
LADWP will host the first meeting virtually on February 19 with two in-person meetings to follow. The public meetings are designed to provide a platform for residents, stakeholders, and customers to voice their opinions and suggestions regarding the UWMP. The feedback collected will be carefully considered into the final plan, which will be published on or before the July 1, 2026, regulatory deadline.

Interested members of the public and agencies are invited to participate in these meetings and submit comments regarding the content of the plan to be considered in the published document.
Key components of the UWMP include:
- Existing and planned sources of water
- Water demand forecasting
- Conservation efforts to reduce water demand
- Activities to develop alternative sources of water
- Assessment of reliability and vulnerability of water supply
- Reporting on climate change impacts and energy intensity
The UWMP also includes LADWP’s Water Shortage Contingency Plan (WSCP), which outlines processes to identify and respond to water shortages, establishes six standard water shortage levels, and identifies response actions that may be implemented to respond to water shortages.
