Pacific Palisades Fires: Correcting Misinformation about LADWP’s Water System

LADWP Heat Storm Update – September 8, 2024, 3:00 p.m.

September 8, 2024

The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power crews continue working in the field to respond to power outages. Below is an update on our heat storm response as of 3PM on Sunday, September 8, 2024. The current number of customers without power is 6,610 out of LADWP’s 1.5 million electric customers. The number of customers without power in any given community remains relatively low. There are currently around 100 separate outage incidents that are mainly smaller, residential outages, and they take time for crews to respond and restore. Echo Park, Northridge and Valley Glen are among the communities with the most number of customers impacted. The Department’s Operation Center (DOC) continues to be activated to coordinate our response across the organization.

Customers experiencing an outage can expect that our crews’ response may extend beyond 24 hours. We are utilizing all available resources to support our restoration efforts at this time. Crews are working around the clock, and continue to prioritize the restoration of longer-duration outages as well as large circuit outages.

We are in direct communication with residential customers who have been without power for more than 30 hours, and mobilizing additional staff to deliver ice to those affected customers.
