LADWP Crews Work To Restore Power Outages During 1st Rain Storm of the Season
[As of 9:00 p.m.]

LOS ANGELES- The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) reports approximately 32,000 of LADWP’s 1.4 million electric customers are experiencing power service interruptions as rain and winds caused outages in several neighborhoods. It is common for rain and wind storms, particularly the first significant storm of the season, to cause some temporary power outages as dried palm fronds, tree branches and other debris fall and make contact with power lines.

The following communities had the most number of customers impacted:

•South Los Angeles: 10,000
•Hyde Park: 9,000
•Eastside neighborhoods, including Lincoln Heights, Cypress Park and Boyle Heights: 3,700
•Koreatown: 2,000
•Southeast Los Angeles: 2,000

Currently, crews are working around the clock as quickly and safely as possible to restore power.

The public and members of the media are encouraged to check the Department’s news site and Twitter page, @LADWP, for updates. The next outage update will be posted at approximately 7:00 a.m.
