LADWP Crews Work Through the Night to Restore Power

LOS ANGELES — With high winds affecting the Southland, the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power currently has approximately 50,000 customers without power out of 1.4 million total electric customers.

‪Approximately 45,000 of these customers are located in the Metro Area and the remaining 5,000 are in the San Fernando Valley. ‪

Neighborhoods most impacted include:
• Playa Del Rey
• Del Rey
• Westchester
• Venice
• Hollywood
• Beverly Grove
• Van Nuys
• Encino

‪LADWP crews are working around the clock in dangerous high wind conditions to restore power as quickly and safely as possible to these customers.

Earlier this evening, shortly after 7:00 p.m., an outage at an LADWP receiving station affected power service to approximately 56,000 customers on LA’s westside, including LAX terminals and portions of Westchester, Playa del Rey, Del Rey and Venice.

LADWP Power Crews were able to quickly restore power to nearly all customers affected by this outage, including LAX within 55 minutes.

The public and members of the media are encouraged to check the Department’s news site for outage updates and follow us on Twitter @LADWP.

The next outage update will be posted at approximately 6:00 a.m.
