LOS ANGELES (December 24, 2025) – Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) crews have been working throughout the rain storm to respond to reports of outages and restore service to customers impacted by the 2025 Holiday Storm.
As of 4:30 PM, approximately 8,850 customers out of LADWP’s 1.5 million electric customers were affected by a neighborhood power outage. Based on information from the National Weather Service (NWS), the peak of the atmospheric river has passed and LADWP crews are making significant progress toward full restoration.
Safety Reminder:
- NEVER TOUCH a downed or dangling wire or anything in contact with it. Also, stay away from any puddles or water that may surround a downed wire as water can conduct electricity and be extremely dangerous. Always assume any downed wires are energized and call 9-1-1 immediately. Contact with a live wire could cause serious bodily damage, injuries, or even death.
If power goes out, customers should:
- Report outages and track crew status at LADWP.com/Outages or call 1-800-DIAL-DWP (1-800-342-5397).
- Switch off all lights except one so you know when power is restored.
- Stay calm and assess your surroundings.
- Only use a flashlight, never candles, as a light source.
Crews will continue to respond to any potential new outages and work around the clock until all customers are restored.
Follow LADWP on X (@ladwp) and Nextdoor, and visit www.ladwpnews.com for outage information and storm-related updates. We will continue to monitor conditions closely and provide updates on those platforms if conditions change.
