ADD MORE The Laurel Canyon Green Street project is an important water infrastructure investment that will help build local water supplies, protect LA’s waterways from polluted runoff and aesthetically enhance the Pacoima neighborhood.  A series of vegetated infiltration swales and subterranean dry-well systems will be constructed along the northeast side of Laurel Canyon Boulevard between Terra Bella and Kagel Canyon Streets. When it rains, stormwater runoff flowing through 123 acres of residential area will be captured and infiltrated to replenish the San Fernando Groundwater Basin. The project can capture up to 13 million gallons of water annually, enough to service 120 single-family homes for a year. The project is a collaboration of LADWP and LA Sanitation, and is made possible with the participation of neighborhood residents. Construction will begin in September and is expected to be completed by February of 2016. The total project cost estimate is $3 million.

Funding for this project has been provided in full or in part through an agreement with the State Water Resources Control Board.
