Coldwater Canyon Avenue Closed as
Major Water Trunk Line Replacement Begins

LOS ANGELES— The planned closure of Coldwater Canyon Avenue from Ventura Boulevard to Mulholland Drive began this morning at 8:30 a.m. and will continue through approximately April 25th so that LADWP can replace a 99-year-old water trunk line that runs beneath Coldwater Canyon Avenue. The major thoroughfare will be closed to traffic from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays. Due to the narrow road conditions of Coldwater Canyon Avenue and the need to use heavy equipment to excavate the road and remove and replace pipe, the street must be completely closed to traffic to ensure the safety of the crew and the public.  Nighttime construction is not possible due to noise impacts that would occur and the proximity of the construction site to homes.

During overnight hours and on Sundays, one lane will be open in each direction. Motorists are encouraged to consider the following alternate routes during construction: Cahuenga Boulevard and Highland Avenue, Lauren Canyon Boulevard, Beverly Glen Boulevard, Sepulveda Boulevard, and Interstate 405; or consider taking Metro.

During the next month, Los Angeles Department of Water and Power crews will implement a major effort to upgrade a For complete project details, visit www.ladwp.com: About Us > Water > Projects > Infrastructure Improvement > City Trunk Line South – Unit 5.
