Pacific Palisades Fires: Correcting Misinformation about LADWP’s Water System

City Trunk Line South-Unit 4 Project Update

July 15, 2015

City Trunk Line South-Unit 4 Project Update

Street Closures Starting July 18 in Valley Village

July 15, 2015 – Whitsett Avenue between Magnolia Boulevard and Chandler Boulevard in Valley Village will be fully closed to cars this Saturday, July 18 from 8 a.m. to noon to re-stripe the street and prepare for a new work zone for the City Trunk Line South Unit 4 (CTLS-U4) Project.

Following the re-striping, northbound Whitsett Avenue will be closed from Magnolia Boulevard to Hesby Street from July 18 through December 2015 as construction continues. During the time, one southbound lane will remain open to through traffic, while northbound traffic will be detoured at Riverside Drive for northbound commuters. LADWP crews will provide local access.

Construction work will typically take place Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with the possibility of occasional work on Saturdays.

This is the first of three (3) work zones on Whitsett Avenue between Magnolia Boulevard and Riverside Drive that will have the northbound traffic closures. The entire CTLS-U4 Project, Phase 1 is anticipated to be finished by September 2016. The project is approximately 70 percent complete.

The CTLS-U4 project is an important investment in LA’s water infrastructure, and will replace an old and deteriorating trunk line installed in 1914. This pipe has a history of leaks and breaks, and the new trunk line will improve capacity, reliability, and flexibility in the water system for LADWP customers.

As with any large construction project, work will be noisy and dusty at times. LADWP apologizes for any inconvenience and thanks you for your patience as we continue work on this important infrastructure project to provide you with the best service possible.
