LADWP Regional Championship Teams have among the best records of any area in the nation, having won four national titles and landing trophies in nine out of the last 15 years. The LADWP Science Bowl is an official regional competition of the U.S. Department of Energy National Science Bowl, the largest science competition in the U.S.

The Science Bowl program seeks to encourage high school students of all backgrounds and areas of the City to pursue studies and careers in math, science and technology fields. It showcases the accomplishments of the students, enhances teamwork skills and quick thinking  under strict time constraints and serves as an incentive for hard work and scholarship.  The program provides top high school students with an exciting fun-filled competition that follows a television game-show style format.
