Water Main Break Update - 12:00 p.m.

LOS ANGELES — The water main break at the intersection of Van Nuys Blvd. and Sherman Way in the Van Nuys area of the San Fernando Valley occurred at approximately 10:42 a.m.  LADWP crews are on the scene and working to shut off the water main.  Water flow has diminished significantly.

The ruptured pipe is a 54-inch ductile iron pipe.  A "purple pipe," the pipe is used to convey recycled water used for irrigation and industrial purposes.  

This rupture is not expected to interrupt regular water service to any LADWP customers.
