The purpose of the summit is to inform and motivate young women who are high school students to learn about and pursue non-traditional careers at the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power. Students will learn about eligibility requirements for beginning jobs, success stories of women in the utility industry and government service, overview of three student programs in which they can enroll, opportunities to participate at the summit in mock interviews; tour the Truesdale Training Center to view aspects of power distribution. Panelists are subject matter experts in non-traditional jobs. The program is co-sponsored by LADWP and the Los Angeles City Commission on the Status of Women
