BACKGROUND:
Distributing Station 87 (DS-87) is the newest addition to LADWP's group of power stations and is the first to bear the number 87.  Construction started in November 2002 and the station was brought online in June 2006.  DS-87 is gradually being brought into service: of 28 feeders, 6 are currently in use.  DS-87 will relieve overloads at distributing stations currently serving the Mid-Wilshire area, including Koreatown and parts of Hancock Park, and is a visible symbol of LADWP's commitment to maintaining a high level of power reliability.  LADWP provides reliable electricity to 1.4 million customers.
