Retrofitted and Restored, Distinctive Copper and Green Regency Moderne Building Brings New Luster to Historic Neighborhood  

WHAT:           A rededication of the landmark green tile and glass 1937 Art Deco LADWP Customer Service Center in Lincoln Heights that has been completely restored  and retrofitted to meet 21^st Century standards. Designed by noted architect S. Charles Lee, of the Max Factor Make-Up Studio fame and other Los Angeles signature buildings, this building is unique for its bold façade and two-foot high glass letters that read: "Municipal Light Water Power."

VISUALS:         The outside of the building is visually very distinctive with its copper and green architectural features and glass signage, evocative of an earlier era of grand municipal buildings.

BACKGROUND: In its storied history, the building in its early years has functioned as a neighborhood LADWP walk-in facility, been shuttered completely, returned to the area as a community center and then closed again for a lengthy and thorough restoration.
