9 PM WINDSTORM OUTAGE UPDATE
Thursday, December 27, 2007
LADWP crews have restored power to close to 20,000 customers since a fierce cold windstorm hit Los Angeles last night and today. As of 9 p.m. about 600 customers were without power, including 100 in the Hollywood Hills. Crews have been working all day in this area, in steep terrain, to replace downed wires. Power has been restored to the majority of these customers and we expect that the remaining 100 customers will have their lights back on tonight. Additionally, crews are working on scattered, localized outages in South Los Angeles, West Los Angeles, Koreatown, and other neighborhoods. We have 51 crews working in the field, and hope to repair all wind-related outages by later this evening.
The LADWP serves 1.4 million electric customers within the City of Los Angeles.
