Strong winds began hitting the Los Angeles area about 5 p.m. today. Since 5:20 p.m., wind-related outages have caused numerous circuit outages in the San Fernando Valley, Hollywood and West Los Angeles communities. The number of customers affected has fluctuated between 6,000 and just over 11,000. Currently there are approximately 9,900 customers without power.
Hardist hit areas are Granada Hills, North Hills and Northridge in the San Fernando Valley. In the Metro side, circuit outages are affecting West Los Angeles, Westwood, Hollywood and Bel Aire Estates. Partial circuit outages are also occurring in Hancock Park, Los Feliz, Sherman Oaks, Northridge, and Encino. There are 8 circuit outages (4 in Metro and 4 in the Valley); 6 partial circuit outages (3 in Metro and 3 in the Valley). In addition, there are about 100 neighborhood outages.
In addition, ECC reported multiple relays on the Northridge-Granada Line 2 and Northridge-Granada Line 1, and a lock out on Sherman Peddler 1. In addition DS 68 Transformer Bank 2 relayed out, de-energizing 8 4.8 kV feeders caused outages for 1 minutes.
There is no estimated time of repair. Our crews are working as safely and as fast as they can to restore power.
