LOS ANGELES DEPARTMENT OF WATER & POWER
OUTAGE UPDATE AS OF 5:30 PM SEPT. 6

  • Total # of customers affected by heat-related outages as of 5:30 PM today: About 300.
  • All heat-related outages lasting 48 hours or more have been restored.
  • We have about 300 customers without power due to heat-related outages and expect to have them restored today. Two neighborhoods still affected include Belair Estates (278) and Brentwood (27).
  • We have about 40 crews in the field, including DWP electric trouble crews, district crews, transmission crews, and private crews who were called in to assist in restoration efforts.  
  • Crews are now working their 8th straight day on 16-hours shifts.
  • Crews will continue working at the heightened level for at least a week to shore up damaged transformers and upgrade transformers that had experienced overloads.
  • POWER DEMAND 

    Due to cooler temperatures, power demand is reduced to average load for this time of year.
  • Today's peak demand (as of 2:52 pm): 4539 MW
