OUTAGE UPDATE AS OF 6 PM

Highlights:

  • Total # of customers affected by outages as of 6 PM today: Approx 6,000. This means about 24,000 customers have had their power restored since noon yesterday, when DWP reported close to 30,000 customers affected by outages.
  • Good news is that all customers who had been without electric service for 72 hours or more have been fully restored.
  • 100 customers who have been without electric service between 48 and 72 hours are expected to have power restored by 11 PM tonight. 
  • Cooler temperatures last night and today have helped restoration efforts.
  • We are down to only 1 partial circuit outage in Hollywood, and 1 circuit outages in Monterey Hills.
    3,718 customers remain affected by 68 small outages scattered across Valley and Metro areas.    
  • We have nearly 100 crews in the field, including DWP electric trouble crews, district crews, transmission crews, an Owens Valley crew, and private crews who were called in to assist in restoration efforts.   
  • Crews are now working their 7th straight day on 16-hour shifts.

Circuit Outages
Curret circuit outages:

Monterey Hills, affecting 1,477customers

Circuit outages were restored today in Hollywood and West Hills, and yesterday in Woodland Hills, Sherman Oaks, Sylmar, Hollywood and Chinatown.

 Partial Circuit Outages:
We have restored power to all but one partial circuit.
Metro - 1  partial outages: 634 customers in Hollywood
Valley - 0

Partial circuit outages were restored today and last night in Los Feliz, Park La Brea, Pacoima, Brentwood, Studio City, Bel Air, Mid-City, and Eagle Rock   

Metro Neighborhood Outages (small localized): 65 localized outages affecting 3,664 customers 

Valley Neighborhood outages: 3 localized outages affecting 54 customers

Neighborhood outages total: 68 affecting approx 3,718 customers 

POWER DEMAND 

Due to cooler temperatures, today's power demand peaked at 5033 MW, about 700 MW lower than Monday's peak demand of 5737 MW.
Today's unofficial peak was 5033 MW-reached at 3:31 PM
Yesterday's peak energy demand was 5938 MW at 2:58 PM
The LADWP has experienced 5 straight days of record setting demand; while yesterday was not another record-setting peak, demand was still extremely high.
Customers are urged to continue to conserve power

RESTORATION TIMES
Customers without power may experience outages lasting from 24 to 48 hours.
