OUTAGE UPDATE AS OF 10:30 PM

Highlights:

  • Total # of customers affected by outages as of 10:30 PM today: Approx 12,000. This means more than 18,000 customers have had their power restored since about noon today, when we reported close to 30,000 customers affected by outages. During the afternoon we were able to repair many of the partial outages and circuit outage and made progress on the neighborhood outages.
  • 5030 customers are affected by 140 small outages scattered across Valley and Metro; approx one dozen outages remain from Sunday.   
  • We have 92 crews in the field, including DWP electric trouble crews, district crews, transmission crews, an Owens Valley crew, and private crews who were called in to assist in restoration efforts.   
  • Crews working their 6th straight day on 16-hour shifts. 

DETAILS:  

Circuit Outages
There are currently no circuit outages.  Both the Hollywood and Chinatown Circuits have been restored.  Hollywood is still experiencing neighborhood outages

Circuit outages were restored since 4 p.m. in Woodland Hills, Sherman Oaks and Sylmar.

 Partial Circuit Outages:
Widespread outages in neighborhoods in Metro and Valley:
Metro - 14  partial outages: 7133 customers
Valley - 2 partial outages: 596 customers
TOTAL: 16 partial outages: 7729 customers

Partial circuit outage neighborhoods include: Boyle Heights, Hollywood, Mid-City, Eagle Rock, Los Feliz, Park La Brea, Studio City, Pacoima, Brentwood, Bel Air Estates   

Metro Neighborhood Outages (small localized): 95 localized outages affecting 4205 customers 

Valley Neighborhood outages:  45 localized outages affecting 825 customers

Neighborhood outages total: 140 affecting approx 5030 customers 

POWER DEMAND
Today's energy peak was 5938 MW at 2:58 PM
The LADWP has experienced 5 straight days of record setting demand; while today was not another record-setting peak, demand was still extremely high.
Customers are urged to continue to conserve power

RESTORATION TIMES
Customers without power may experience outages lasting from 24 to 48 hours.

PAYMENT ASSISTANCE
LADWP offers payment assistance programs for qualified low-income customers and senior citizens, as well as customers on disability or life support.  We also will make payment arrangements as needed for customers experiencing difficulty due to higher energy use during the heat wave.

COOLING CENTERS
The City Dept of Recreation and Parks reports the following senior centers open tonight and tomorrow night until 10 pm. Residents can obtain more info by calling 311.
