The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power announced today that it will hold two community workshops open to all DWP customers and LA residents to review the independent consultant report commissioned by Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and the City Council to review the appropriateness of the LADWPs proposed water and power rate actions. The report, completed by Huron Consulting (the former Barrington Wellesley Group), reviews the LADWPs revenue requirements and was released today, Tuesday, August 14, 2007. Consultants from Huron will present their findings at the two meetings and answer questions from the public. Representatives from the LADWP will also make a presentation regarding the proposed rate actions.
The two workshops are in addition to nine other public meetings held across the City of Los Angeles since the DWP unveiled its rate proposal in June and began a 120-day review period prior to consideration by the LADWP Board. Department representatives will also be available to discuss the rate proposal and consultant's review upon request by Neighborhood Councils, Chambers of Commerce or Homeowners Associations, and have already scheduled additional presentations. To request a presentation, group representatives should call 213-367-1361.
