LA Cityview 35 Broadcasts Gavel to Gavel Coverage of LADWP Science Bowl XX Finals

First Same Day Airing of High School Competition

LOS ANGELES — LA CityView 35, the city government's cable access station, which broadcasts on every cable TV system within the Los Angeles city limits, will for the first time air same day gavel to gavel coverage of the final competition round at the LADWP Science Bowl on Saturday, Feb 25 at 8 p.m.

The program will showcase the top two teams competing for the regional champlionship and the right to represent the City at the U.S. Department of Energy National Science Bowl in Washington, D.C., April 26 to 30.

LADWP regional championship teams have won four national championships and placed among the top five teams 10 times.

The broadcast will be anchored by LA Cityview reporter Brian Ojima.  Commentator and background information will be provided by Dr. Adam Diament, PhD and JD, a scientist and practicing attorney, who is a Science Bowl alumnus, having competed for Venice High School at the first regional science bowl for schools in the City in 1993.  He also served as the moderator for the final rounds of competiton the last two years and in that capacity in preliminary rounds for several years. 

The program will also be aired on LA Cityview 35 on Thursday, March 1 at 9 p.m. and Saturday, March 3 at 8 p.m. For viewers that don't have cable access in the City or who are outside of the city limits, an online streaming video is available at the same time as the broadcasts by going to  On-demand viewing will start on Sunday, Feb. 26 by visiting and clicking "Public Meeting/Townhall" under the on-demand library and then selecting "DWP Commission" link.

The LADWP Science Bowl is an official regional competition of the U.S. Department of Energy National Science Bowl.  Science Bowl is the nation's largest high school science competition and the only one sponsored by a federal agency.  LADWP is among only a few utilities that serve as the host and coordinating regional sponsor of a Science Bowl competition.
